Cle Elum House

A family retreat on the Eastern slopes of the Cascades, the form of this house echoes views of the mountains it views in the distance. The plan curves around a large terrace to protect against prevailing winds. The central section is a one-room space for living, dining and cooking; wings on either side provide a bunkhouse for children and guests and a master suite. High Cascade granite, fiber-reinforced cement siding, aluminum windows and zincalume roofing create a virtually fireproof exterior, guarding against risk in the pine forest setting.
